Introduction
Travel and Tourism industry is one of the largest & fastest growing industries in the world, providing vast and numerous lucrative career opportunities. It gives an understanding of travel and tourism industry, the practicalities of the travel professionals’ role, the importance of exceeding customers’ expectations and the foundation of airfare calculation and ticketing. The course deals with Tourism Product and Tourism Business, Tourism Marketing, Airline Ticketing, Tour Operator organizations, and Travel Agency Management. Entrepreneurship Development Program, Customer Relationship marketing, PR etc with on-job training. The whole course gives a broad spectrum of the tourism industry with a strong emphasis on practical training.
The second combination in this course is History. History is the study of the past. History in fact is very useful and actually indispensable. History should be studied because it is essential to individuals and to society. It offers a storehouse of information about how people and societies behave. History also provides a terrain for moral contemplation. Studying the stories of individuals and situations in the past allows a student of history to test his or her own moral sense, to hone it against some of the real complexities individuals have faced in difficult settings. A study of history is essential for good citizenship. Students are also encouraged to study the social, economic, cultural and political history of the World and India. The syllabus covers the ancient, medieval and Modern History and culture of the World & India with special emphasis on Tourism Industry.
The third subject of this combination is Journalism. Media has a great role to play in every situation that unfolds in any nation. A responsible media is viewed as very critical to earning for any country a pedestal in the League of Nations. Journalists are a crucial spoke in the wheel of responsible media. This program takes the student through an overview of journalism to the concept of freedom of the press, function and modes of communication in the first year to introduction to jurisprudence, torts, rights, duties and constitutional laws in the second year. In the third year students learn journalistic skills such as reporting a speech, presenting radio news, interviewing and preparing a lay out on screen along with editing and designing. The students undergoing this program are exposed to real life situations while gaining valuable experience during their inter ship in various newspapers and publications.
Entry Requirement
Pass in senior high school / equivalent in any discipline.
Assessment
Assessment is by examinations, reporting assignments and a project. The internal appraisals are based on a combination of practical assignments, internships, examinations.
